Which Trainer Cards Do Suicune Decks Use?Count the Bench, then choose between Energy support and damage placement
Keep the end-of-turn draw on the Active attacker
This Suicune deck uses Suicune ex A4a-020, a Basic Water Pokémon with 140 HP. Its Ability draws one card at the end of your turn only while it is Active. A Suicune build that leaves it on the Bench does not obtain that draw. Plan the finishing position before ending the turn; simply including two copies in a Suicune list does not produce two draws.
Crystal Waltz costs two Water Energy and deals 20 damage for each Benched Pokémon on both sides. A Suicune deck counts Pokémon in play, not cards in either hand, attached Energy or evolution stages. If there are four Benched Pokémon in total, the printed calculation is 80 before other effects. Recount the board for each attack instead of treating the Suicune build as a fixed-damage attacker.
The printed retreat cost is two and the Weakness is Lightning. A Suicune deck must distinguish moving the attacker from attacking with it: the two Water symbols pay for the attack, while retreat has its own cost. This Suicune list gives up two points when its ex is Knocked Out. Those facts make its remaining HP, Energy and intended replacement relevant to the same turn.
Prepare the correct Basic before using Rare Candy
Baxcalibur B2a-036 is a 140-HP Stage 2, not a Basic Pokémon that a Suicune deck can place directly on the Bench. Rare Candy can evolve a matching Basic directly into its Stage 2 from your hand. The Suicune build therefore needs both the established Frigibax and the evolution card. Finding only the Item does not complete that sequence, and a Suicune list should be checked for all three pieces.
Rare Candy cannot be used during your first turn or on a Basic put into play that turn. A Suicune deck should establish the Basic before planning the later evolution, while keeping those two restrictions separate. This Suicune build does not obtain an immediate Stage 2 by drawing all the cards together. The submitted Melma list uses two Frigibax P-B-037, two Baxcalibur and two Rare Candy.
P-B-037 Frigibax has 60 HP and a one-Water attack that reduces attack damage it takes during the opponent's next turn by 20. B2a-034 instead attacks for 20 with one Water and also has 60 HP. A Suicune deck checks the printed version before copying an opening. The promotional card in that Suicune list offers a defensive effect; it does not have the other print's damage attack.
Check the Energy Zone and the Active target
Baxcalibur can use its Ability once during your turn to take Water Energy from the Energy Zone and attach it to the Active Water Pokémon. A Suicune deck must check the source, Energy type and destination together. This Suicune build cannot use that text to retrieve discarded Energy or target an attacker on the Bench. Read the board at the time you use the Ability.
Suicune ex is a Water Pokémon, so it is an eligible target while Active. A Suicune deck with the attacker Benched must solve its position before assuming that this Ability powers it. Inflatable Boat lowers its Water holder's retreat cost by one: on the printed two-retreat Suicune ex, that isolated reduction leaves one. The Suicune list still needs the intended replacement ready; a reduction is not an automatic switch.
Baxcalibur itself attacks for 90 with three Water and has a retreat cost of three. A Suicune deck should not confuse its own attack with the Energy-support effect. If this Stage 2 becomes Active, compare the Energy it has with those printed costs. This Suicune build cannot treat a support Pokémon as a free retreating substitute, and the Suicune list's Energy requirements remain specific to each card.
Recount damage before committing Chien-Pao
Every additional Benched Pokémon adds 20 to Suicune ex's printed attack calculation, regardless of which player owns it. A Suicune deck therefore gains a different damage total when either Bench changes. For example, five total gives 100 before other effects; four gives 80. These are conditional calculations for a Suicune build, not a promise that an opponent will supply the missing Bench slot or a fixed damage threshold.
Chien-Pao ex B2a-037 is a 130-HP Basic Water ex with a one-Water attack for 20. Its larger attack costs three Water, discards all Water attached to itself and deals 130 to one opposing Pokémon. A Suicune deck can consider that target choice when the ordinary attack would fall short. This Suicune list must still pay the cost and account for the discarded attachments.
The Melma submission contains one Chien-Pao ex alongside two Suicune ex. A Suicune deck should treat that as evidence of this player's configuration, not proof that every entrant used the same ratio. After the 130-damage attack, the Water discarded from Chien-Pao ex is no longer attached. This Suicune build needs a new legal attachment plan before repeating it; Baxcalibur's Energy-Zone effect does not directly recover those discarded Energy.
Distinguish the Greninja cards before choosing a route
Greninja A1-089 is a 120-HP Stage 2 whose once-per-turn Ability deals 20 to one opposing Pokémon. Its attack costs Water and Colorless for 60. A Suicune deck can compare this placed damage with Baxcalibur's Energy support. The effects solve different problems. A Suicune list containing Greninja does not thereby gain the Energy-Zone Ability, and this Suicune build still checks which evolution is actually present.
Mega Greninja ex C1-042 is a different Stage 2 evolving from Frogadier, with 200 HP and no printed retreat cost. Its two-Water attack deals 100 and prevents the Defending Pokémon from retreating during the opponent's next turn. A Suicune deck must not apply Greninja's Ability to this Mega card. The Suicune build also accounts for its printed three-point Knock Out rule when deciding which attacker to expose.
Frogadier C1-041 can use its Ability when played from your hand to evolve a Pokémon, placing a random Frogadier from the deck onto the Bench. A Suicune deck does not trigger that text merely by putting a Stage 2 into play with Rare Candy. The GoldGalladeVGC Suicune list contains two C1-041, two A1-089 and one C1-042; this is a real example, not a universal evolution ratio.
Search for the missing piece without promising a draw
Professor's Research draws two cards, whereas Copycat shuffles your hand away and draws according to the opponent's hand size. A Suicune deck chooses between keeping the cards already held and replacing that hand. This Suicune build should not describe both effects as the same fixed draw. In particular, preserving a Stage 2 plus Rare Candy may matter when a Suicune list already has those pieces available.
Serena's Choice looks at the top three cards and puts one into your hand, then shuffles the remainder back. A Suicune deck can select only from that revealed group. It does not name any missing Baxcalibur and search the whole deck for it. This Suicune build checks the actual options before choosing; a desired card in the Suicune list is not a guaranteed card in the next reveal.
Poké Ball finds a random Basic Pokémon from the deck. In a Suicune deck that pool can contain Suicune ex, Frigibax or Chien-Pao ex when those cards remain. It cannot directly find Stage 2 Baxcalibur. The Melma Suicune list contains two copies of this Item. This Suicune build still needs to inspect the remaining Basic pool rather than treating one random search as a chosen evolution or attacker.
Choose protection by its actual condition
Eviolite reduces attack damage from opposing Pokémon to its Basic holder by 20. A Suicune deck can apply that condition to the Basic Suicune ex, while Giant Cape instead increases its holder's HP by 20. These are different effects. The Melma Suicune list uses two Eviolite; the cerrie example includes both Tools. Neither observation proves the same protection choice is present in every Suicune build.
Pokémon Center Lady heals 30 from one of your Pokémon and removes its Special Conditions. Irida heals 40 from each of your Pokémon with Water Energy attached. A Suicune deck checks whether the decision concerns a condition, a single damaged target or several eligible targets. This Suicune build should not turn either effect into unconditional protection from the next attack; the printed healing applies to the existing state.
Soothing Shore heals 20 at the end of each player's turn from each of that player's Pokémon with Water attached. A Suicune deck checks whose turn is ending and which Pokémon satisfy that requirement. The cerrie Suicune list includes two copies of the Stadium. This Suicune build does not describe the effect as immediate healing for every Pokémon, nor assume that only one player can benefit from the field.
Read personal submissions separately from the statistical list
Sabrina makes the opponent move their Active to the Bench and choose the replacement; Cyrus selects a damaged opposing Benched Pokémon. A Suicune deck should check who chooses and whether the intended target is eligible. Mars instead changes the opponent's hand according to remaining points. These are distinct decisions in a Suicune build. The Suicune list's inclusion of a Trainer cannot guarantee a specific opposing target.
Open Melma's complete submission to inspect its seven Pokémon cards and thirteen Trainers. The event page records 10 wins, one loss and third place among 144 entrants. That is one player's tournament result. A Suicune deck should not inherit that record as a ladder prediction, and the statistical Suicune list above remains an aggregate rather than a claim that every submitted Suicune build matched these twenty cards.
GoldGalladeVGC uses two C1-041 Frogadier, while cerrie uses none. A Suicune deck should open the intended complete list before copying quantities or comparing results. Use the current counts and dates shown above; if a route is archived, read its historical label and list separately. This Suicune build guide explains card interactions without turning an older personal submission into a current recommendation.
