Lucario deck FAQ
Which Lucario deck list should I check first?
Start with Mega Lucario ex deck · Lucario (A2) if you want the largest tournament sample: 135 of the 172 lists in this window used that build. Its record covers 691 games. Open the full list before crafting cards; the most-played build is a useful reference, but popularity alone doesn’t tell you which one will win more often.
Current Mega Lucario ex Deck ListsWhich Lucario deck suits my collection: Lucario or Greninja?
Both builds use the same Mega Lucario ex card. If you already own Lucario, start with that list: it appeared 135 times this window. The Greninja list appeared 13 times. Those counts measure tournament use; compare the full lists to see which supporting cards you’d actually need to change.
Lucario (A2), Greninja, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, Hitmonchan ex, or Paldean Clodsire? How common is Poké Ball in Lucario deck lists?
Poké Ball appeared in 172 of the 172 current tournament lists across all builds. That makes it worth checking when you compare your collection with a list. The count tells you how often the card appeared, not how many copies to run; use the full list for the exact count.
Which Trainer Cards Do Lucario Decks Use?Where can I find an older Lucario deck list?
For example, Mega Lucario ex Igglybuff was last seen on 2026-10-26. Its list remains available so you can revisit the build, but its old results aren’t included in current card-use percentages. Check the tournament window at the top before treating a past result as evidence about today’s decks.
Archived Lucario Deck ListsMega Lucario ex deck · Play guide
Lucario build · From Riolu to the Mega
Mega Lucario ex evolves directly from Riolu. A regular Lucario is another evolution choice, not a step between them. Before playing your only Riolu, decide which evolution you need and where it must be on the next turn.
Take the Lucario build back to the opening hand. The November 1, 2026 tournament window included a group classified as Mega Lucario ex Lucario; Riolu (B3-079) appeared in 98 of its 135 lists. That observation is useful for a different reason than a win rate: it tells you which opening to practise with the actual cards. Lay out the Basic you want in the Active Spot, the first useful Bench target and the attachment that makes the next attack possible. Then remove the best card from your hand. Can this Mega Lucario ex deck make a useful play without it? A Lucario list that works only when the opener, attacker and support all appear together asks for a very different collection from one that can start with either of two Basics.
Two Energy or three?
Fighting Pulse deals 90 for two Fighting Energy. A third Fighting Energy raises that to 140. An extra Energy of another type does not meet the condition. Check the symbol before committing the attachment.
Try this Mega Lucario ex deck from the other side of the table. In the sample labelled Mega Lucario ex, the exact print of Mega Lucario ex (B3-081) appeared in 5 of 5 lists. Read that card before assigning the opponent a response. If it is sitting on the Bench, what changes when it comes forward? If it is still in the deck, which move gives the opponent another turn to find it? Record the board before you draw the next card and compare two continuations from there. The better Lucario build for that position is the one that gets the knockout you need, even if its largest printed damage number is smaller. Repeat with a healthy target; the same Lucario list may now need a different first attack.
Lucario build · The A2 partner
Lucario A2-092 supports damage from Fighting Pokémon against the opposing Active. Read its Ability separately from Fighting Pulse: the support bonus and the Mega’s extra-Energy condition come from different cards.
Compare the cost of the attack with the cost of reaching it. Lucario (A2-092) was present in 135 of 135 lists classified as Mega Lucario ex Lucario in the reference window. The count does not say it was in anyone’s starting hand. In a practice game with the Mega Lucario ex deck, mark the first turn on which the attacker was ready and the first turn on which it actually attacked. If those turns differ, write down what was missing: an attachment, an evolution, a retreat or a target worth hitting. Before changing the Lucario list, run the same position with the missing piece already in hand. That separates a sequencing problem from a slot the Lucario build really needs to change.
Splitting the evolution line
With one Riolu in play and both evolutions in hand you cannot have both roles immediately. Evolving into the Mega commits that Basic to attacking; evolving into the A2 support leaves you needing another Riolu for the Mega.
Freeze the position just before committing a resource. The reference Lucario build classified as Mega Lucario ex contained Riolu (A2-091) in 4 of 5 lists. Put that card beside the play area so you can check its number rather than guessing from the artwork. First play the turn that puts the biggest attacker in front. Then reset and keep that attacker on the Bench. What can the opponent knock out on each line, and which attacker will have enough Energy when your next turn starts? A Mega Lucario ex deck can survive the immediate turn and still lose the race if every attachment went into the wrong spot. Use the complete Lucario list to check whether a switch or a second attacker is actually available.
Lucario build · Comparing ex versions
Lucario ex A2b-043 and Mega Lucario ex B3-081 are not interchangeable. Confirm the card number, attack and knockout points before copying an older list. A different artwork with the same rules is a different matter.
The two names at the top of a Lucario list describe why the list was classified that way. They do not list every Pokémon in it. For example, Bonsly (B3-078) appeared in 121 of the 135 lists filed under Mega Lucario ex Lucario in the reference window. Open the Mega Lucario ex deck, count the Basics that can start the game and set aside the evolution cards that cannot. Then reserve the Bench spaces needed for the intended attack. Is there room for the extra support Pokémon, and can it do anything before the main attacker is ready? This is a useful way to choose a Lucario build when you own most of two lists: look for the missing role that changes a turn, not just the smaller number of missing cards.
Using the retreat option
The printed retreat cost is one. Moving a three-Energy Mega back can preserve it but also remove the extra Fighting Energy needed for 140. Plan how it will attack if it returns before you pay to retreat.
Test an optional inclusion without changing the rest of the Mega Lucario ex deck. In the archived study window, Hitmonlee (A1-154) appeared in 3 of the 5 lists named Mega Lucario ex. For practice, start with the complete Lucario list, record the point score and save the same opening hand for a second run. Change one card or one attachment decision, not both. Count turns when the change made a previously impossible attack possible. Also count turns when it occupied a Bench space or hand slot without doing anything. That second count matters: an exciting play in one game does not tell you how often the Lucario build gives up something to make room for it.
Lucario build · Testing an alternative partner
For a partner that does not evolve from Riolu, count the extra Basic slots and the attachments it needs. Does it give you a useful turn while Riolu waits, or postpone the third Fighting attachment?
Check what you would actually have to obtain. In the reference group Mega Lucario ex Lucario, 8 of 135 lists used Riolu (A2b-042). A list contributes once to that number whether it ran one copy or two; it tells you neither the required copy count nor which artwork to buy. Open the full Lucario list and compare the printed identifier, attack and evolution requirement against the card in your collection. If the artwork differs but the game text and identity match, check the equivalent prints. If the name is similar but the attack or stage differs, keep it separate. Trying the closest complete Mega Lucario ex deck first gives a more useful baseline than making several untested substitutions in your preferred Lucario build.
Copies in the Lucario build: among the 8 lists using Riolu (A2b-042), 8 included one copy and 0 included two. This is the distribution for that print, not a prescription for every Mega Lucario ex deck. Compare the image and the quantity before you borrow the example.
Playing for three points
A knockout on your Mega awards three points. When a two-Energy attack already takes the last point, powering a bigger attack is unnecessary. When it only takes the first point, inspect the opponent’s replacement attacker first.
Play the closing position twice before calling one Lucario build better. The reference group Mega Lucario ex Lucario had 135 lists with Mega Lucario ex (B3-081) out of 135; the record reflects the whole tournament group, not an isolated test of that card. First suppose your next knockout ends the game. Ignore resources you would only use on a later turn. Then suppose the same knockout leaves you one point short. Choose the opponent’s replacement, count what they can attach and check which of your Pokémon they can reach. If the best move changes, the Mega Lucario ex deck has two distinct plans worth practising. Keep a note with the full Lucario list: the point score, target and Energy mattered more than the headline win percentage.
